Weaves and felts monumental textiles by hand, some of them long enough to fill a gallery wall.

Lucía Ferrer weaves and felts monumental textiles by hand in her studio in Sevilla. She learned to weave from her grandmother and to felt from a shepherd in Andalucía, and uses wool from flocks she knows by name.

Her works are slow. Second Skin took three months of felting from the wool of a single flock. The Long Thread took fourteen months and hundreds of hands, woven row by row with visitors in Sevilla, Madrid and Copenhagen.

She is interested in how wool keeps the shape of the body that wore it, and in how a textile can feel as heavy as stone. Her pieces are soft to look at and monumental to stand next to.

The museum holds two of her works. Second Skin is the oldest work in the collection, and moves on in 2039.
