Lucía Ferrer
2022, Hand woven wool and linen
A wall sized weaving in red, ochre and blue that took fourteen months and hundreds of hands to make.
Lucía Ferrer wove the first metre alone. The rest was made with visitors in Sevilla, Madrid and Copenhagen, each adding a row, over fourteen months and hundreds of hands.
The colours follow the seasons in which each part was woven. The red of a Sevilla summer, the ochre of an autumn in Madrid, the blue of a Copenhagen winter, each blending into the next.
Ferrer kept a list of everyone who wove a row. It runs to forty pages and is on the wall beside the work, so you can look for your own name.
At six metres long it is the largest textile in the collection, and the only work that was finished in this building.
