Pablo Arrieta
2025, Oil on linen
A street outside the museum at the moment the light goes blue, painted from the same window every evening for a month.
Pablo Arrieta painted the work from the museum’s own office window during a residency in the winter of 2025. Every evening for a month he waited for the few minutes when the street outside goes blue, then painted as fast as he could.
The painting shows Nutidsgade at that moment: the bike racks, the corner shop, a bus pulling away. Everything is the same blue, from the sky down to the wet pavement, and the shop window is the only warm thing in it.
It is the newest painting in the collection. It hangs a few metres from where it was made, so on a winter evening you can look up from it and see the same street.
Arrieta left the easel behind when the residency ended. It is still in the office, next to the window.
